Ofsted - 2022
I am delighted to inform you that following the section 8 Ofsted inspection in March, the full report is now available on the school website. As a member of the school community, you have access to this report before it is available on the Ofsted website. The report will be public within the next 10 working days.
We are delighted to confirm that Normanby-by-Spital Primary School continues to be a ‘good’ school
I would like to thank all those who took part in the inspection; school and federation staff, governors, parents and pupils alike. The process was very detailed and rigorous and I am very delighted that the outcome truly reflects the dedication and shared expertise of all those involved.
We are very pleased that the hard work undertaken by all in the school community has been recognised, including the systems we have in place, the reflective and driven nature of staff/governors, the commitment of the pupils and the genuine good regard that all stakeholders have towards our wonderful little school.
The report highlights the many elements of good provision at Normanby-by- Spital Primary School. The inspection team shared the next steps needed to take the school forward; we were delighted as these reflect the target already identified in our school development plan.
I am especially proud of this outcome, as all this has been achieved in a challenging set of circumstances. Not only have we worked progressively on our previous inspection targets (2016), we have also made significant curriculum changes as required by the new Ofsted framework. In addition, I am proud of the way we have all faced the challenges of a global pandemic in the last two years- especially our pupils, who have amazed us with their resilience. Finally, we formed a federation of schools during this busy time. Fair Acres Federation has proved to strengthen the quality of teaching across both schools. The close presence and involvement of another small school has been mutually beneficial; the sharing of resources, expertise and frequent collaboration has had a positive impact.
This achievement is a positive reflection on everyone involved in teaching and learning at Normanby-by-Spital Primary School.
I do hope that parents and carers take the time to read the inspection report in full as it represents a school that is not only good, but one that aims to improve further. We have dedicated staff who work hard and with love to ensure that the school has a bright future, with the children at the heart of its work.
To summarise:
This is a very good report and it is pleasing that the school is recognised as a good school. The Ofsted inspection was thorough, led diligently and was professionally undertaken. We were open and transparent around all aspects of school life and had much evidence to support the process. The outcomes match the criteria for a ‘Good School’, and everyone should be proud of this achievement.
Once again, may I thank all those involved in the inspection itself. I could not be more proud of our wonderful school.
Mrs Kerri Grummell - Headteacher
