Religious Education at Normanby School
Intent
Our RE curriculum is designed to ensure that learners are:
- tolerant and respectful of all people no matter who they are
- aware of how people live beyond rural Lincolnshire
- able to question and articulate their own beliefs and ideas about the world
- reflective and empathetic
We follow the Lincolnshire Agreed Syllabus (2025-2030) which focuses on all major religions. Throughout the curriculum, there are opportunities in the additional units for children to study a wide range of world views. This is to give the children a wider understanding of the world around them and to look at how different people choose to live their lives. Our aim is to promote an ethos of self-reflection and analysis as well as guiding the children to be open and tolerant.
The syllabus follows the following framework:
- Being human: how does faith and belief affect the way people live their lives?
- God - what do people believe about God?
- Community, worship and celebration: how do people express their religion and beliefs?
- Life journey: rites of passage
