The national cuurriculum for swimming requires all pupils to be able to:

• Perform safe self-rescue in different water based situations
• Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
• Use a range of strokes effectively, for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke.

Swimming is a life skill that can lead to the enjoyment of many sports, for example, diving, water polo, synchronised swimming and competitive swimming. If your child is unable to swim, please consider booking some swimming lessons at your local pool.
